Mission Statement of MOCC: The purpose of the Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference (MOCC) is to annually bring together gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, two spirit, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and allied persons from colleges throughout the state of Minnesota to network, socialize, and educate each other with the intention of creating positive change in all aspects of our college campuses and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. Proposals in conflict with the mission and work of MOCC, the MN Campus Alliance, and the Minnesota State University, Mankato will not be accepted.
Conference Theme: This year’s theme is “Connect. Empower. Inspire.” We want to connect students with other students and representatives within the community. We want to empower our students to be who they are. We want to inspire our students to not only be who they are, but also be an additional voice for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. These three crucial goals for this conference fortify the beliefs we hope all LGBTQIA2S+ individuals carry through our community and instill a sense of belonging within our students that they will share with the world.
Honorarium: No presenter will receive an honorarium of any kind unless an explicit written agreement is reached between the said presenter and the MOCC Planning Committee.
Lodging & Travel: Presenters are responsible for their own lodging and travel expenses.
Deadline: September 10th 2018, 11:59 PM
Length of Workshops/Panels: Submitted proposals must be 60 minutes in total length.
Research Presentations: During each 1 hour session there will be a research track where participants will have the opportunity to attend a research presentation or a workshop. Guidelines for submitting to present your research proposals are the same for presenting a workshop.
Applying for Multiple Workshops/Panels: Conference attendees can submit more than one proposal. Each must be completed separately.
Recommendations: The MOCC Planning Committee recommends that presentations include an interactive component with the audience, that handouts be readily available to all of the workshop participants, and that workshops/panels are accessible to persons with disabilities. We welcome “traditional” formatted workshops and those outside PowerPoint! You define your teaching and learning space!
